For more than two decades, Dr. Jeffrey Klirsfeld, DPM, has been improving the quality of life for thousands of men and women in the New York/Nassau County area by alleviating their foot, ankle and lower leg problems. He is a highly skilled podiatrist that provides careful diagnosis, treatment and prevention of foot related ailments. Dr. Klirsfeld received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1987 from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
As an avid fan of the outdoors himself, he enjoys running, bike riding and walking around the city. His understanding of the importance of proper foot care plays a vital role in sports where foot injuries commonly occur. By regularly recommending appropriate footwear, training regimens, and prescribing orthotic devices to fit in sports shoes when necessary his patients are able to resume and enjoy their favorite activities.
Some of the common foot conditions that Dr. Klirsfeld treats are those that result from bone or joint disorders, muscular pathologies, neurological and circulatory problems. These include skin and nail disorders such as corns, calluses, ingrown nails, bunions, and plantar warts as well as foot injuries and infections, inflammation of tissues and tendons including arthritis. In addition, his clinical training enables him to evaluate the biomechanics of the foot with the latest diagnostic equipment. Each patient receives a personal treatment plan which may include, but are not limited to medication, orthotic footwear, exercises and other prosthetic devices to aid in correcting the problem.
